The French-mini festival closes with a final appearance by Van Cliburn competition medalist Benedetto Lupo performing one of Faure’s greatest works, the Ballade for piano and orchestra in F-sharp minor. Also on this French Mini-Festival finale program is Jacques Ibert’s lighthearted Divertissement, Cécile Chaminade’s Concertino for Flute and Orchestra featuring CMF Principal Flute Viviana Cumplido Wilson, Jules Massenet “Thaïs” Meditation, and Paul Dukas’ Villanelle for horn and orchestra.
